As a family we go out to the Oregon coast every summer. It’s a special place. I wrote this the summer that we scattered Kaetlyn’s father’s ashes in the Pacific. I took a video of part of the event, and we used the audio at the beginning of this track. You can hear my youngest son Emory say “What do I do?” and Kaetlyn says “You’re just gonna let him go.” Another reason for the title of the EP.
Lyrics
These waters here, these waters here
They saw us through our best years
And all the while they laughed and cheered
These waters they, these waters they
Gave you new life and took away
All the things you couldn’t say
These waters here, these waters here
They hold the ones you love so dear
They hover in the atmosphere
These waters they, these waters they
They heard the promises you made
And when you broke them they forgave
These waters here, these waters here
These waters here, these waters here
These waters here, these waters here
